It is the external enclosure of the building that, by itself or together with the interior skin, provides all the functions required of an exterior envelope in terms of stability, security, tightness, insulation and solar control.
It consists of structural elements normally made of metal, wood or PVC, connected to each other and anchored to the supporting structure of the building, which do not usually contribute to supporting its characteristic loads.
It will be complemented with filling or covering elements based on glazing, panels or plates that occupy the resulting frame to improve its performance.
Throughout the façade, the weight and thickness adopt very low values, in the order of 50 to 70 kg/ m² and 15 to 30 cm thick.
The Standard considers as light facades Facades with a Weight less than or equal to 200 kg/ m².
